The Peterborough Petes had a rough first road trip of the season, falling 5-1 to the Brantford Bulldogs on Saturday.
Brantford jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the opening period and, despite the Petes tightening up defensively the rest of the way, they couldn’t beat goaltender David Egorov, who made 29 saves over the final two frames.
Peterborough will try to bounce back Thursday when they host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
Meanwhile, the Lakefield Chiefs kept their strong start rolling with a 7-1 win over the Port Hope Panthers. Ethan Yantha netted a hat trick and Owen Thake scored twice to move the Chiefs to 2-0 on the season. They’re back on home ice Tuesday at 7:25 p.m. against the Picton Pirates at the Lakefield Smith Community Centre.
And in local baseball news, community members are being invited to weigh in on plans to upgrade the Morrow Park Ball Diamond. Peterborough Baseball Association President Clayton Wade says he’s hoping for a big turnout:
