Community Care Northumberland (CCN) says the organization is co-operating with OPP in connection with an investigation involving alleged fraudulent activity involving a former employee.
The organization issued a public statement on the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, following confirmation of charges being laid earlier today.
The accused individuals are no longer employed by or associated with CCN, said the organization, in the statement.
As reported earlier Friday, a Northumberland OPP-led fraud investigation into the alleged misappropriation of $140,000 involving a former CCN staffer has resulted in three arrests.
In the OPP release, police said their six-month probe – which also involved the crime unit – started back on March 13, 2025, after they were contacted by a CCN representative about funds allegedly misappropriated and transferred to unauthorized individuals under the pretense of transportation services.
In the OPP release, it states the transactions were believed to have occurred between October 2021 and February 2025.
In the CCN release issued Friday afternoon, officials state the alleged activities were discovered after an internal review process and reported to OPP.
“We recognize the seriousness of the situation and support a thorough and fair process,” reads CCN’s statement. “We are committed to integrity and accountability, ensuring that our operations, including the many programs and clients who rely on our services, remain unaffected.”
The organization goes on to state that with this now an active legal matter, “we are unable to share details at this time; however, we will strive to provide transparent communication and updates as permitted.”
“We appreciate your support and understanding. We are co-operating with the ongoing OPP investigation. We will provide additional public statements as the investigation allows,” the statement concludes.
None of the above allegations have been proven in court.
No other details were released.
