Peterborough Police are asking for the public’s help locating an electric e-bike driver after a dangerous incident on September 1.
Around 11:00 a.m., an officer on patrol saw the e-bike being operated in live traffic lanes at speeds above the e-bike limit while weaving through parking lots. The bike had no rear license plate. When the officer activated emergency lights, the driver did not stop, ran a red light at The Parkway and Clonsilla Avenue, then jumped the curb onto the sidewalk at high speed and continued onto a trail on the north side of the road.
The driver is described as medium build, wearing a black baseball cap, white T-shirt, blue jeans, and black-and-white high tops, with longish blonde hair and a mustache. The driver was not wearing a helmet.
The vehicle is described as a black or dark blue electric dirt bike with foot pegs, no pedals, and no visible turn signals or brake lights. Police have a photo of the driver and bike.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Peterborough Police Traffic Management Unit at 705-876-1122 ext. 289, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at stopcrimehere.ca.
