Heading into week two of the new school year, police and safety officials continue to remind drivers to stay alert for school buses and kids on the road.
OPP’s Bill Dickson says everyone behind the wheel of a car, truck or anything else, needs to keep an eye out for those great big yellow school buses.
What’s more, drivers are urged to avoid distractions, keep their eyes on the road and slow it down in school zones, which are typically 40 km/h.
Kids biking to school should wear helmets, stay on the correct side of the street, and cross intersections on foot whenever possible.
Officers will continue to be out, making sure students have a safe return to school.
Meanwhile, parents are encouraged to review safety routines with children to ensure everyone gets to and from school safely.
