Two former teammates from the Peterborough Petes 2023 OHL championship team were swapped in an NHL trade yesterday, as the Philadelphia Flyers sent JR Avon to the Seattle Kraken in exchange for Tucker Robertson.
Avon, a 22-year-old Peterborough native, joined the Flyers as an undrafted prospect in 2021 and spent the past two seasons with Philadelphia’s AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, recording 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points in 125 games.
Robertson, also 22, played the past two seasons with Seattle’s AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, recording four goals and five assists for nine points in 38 games during the 2024-25 season. He finished his junior career with the Petes after three seasons, serving as assistant captain in 2022-23 and scoring 189 points over 191 games.
The trade marks a fresh chapter for both former Petes as they strive to earn full time roles in the NHL.
