The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is asking for witnesses after a 35-year-old man was seriously injured during an interaction with Belleville police officers at Belleville General Hospital.
The SIU says the incident happened on the afternoon of Friday, August 29, 2025, in the hospital’s emergency room. Police officers were present when the man became agitated, and an officer helped hospital staff restrain him. The following day, the man’s family told police he had suffered serious injuries. The information was then shared with the SIU.
Three investigators have been assigned to the case. The SIU is urging anyone who may have information, including photos or video, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or by visiting the appeals page on the SIU’s website.
