Here is your local sports report for Thursday, September 4.
The Trent Excalibur men’s lacrosse team kicked off their season last night with an 11-8 win over Queens.
Reed Chamberlain led the offence with five goals and an assist, while Nick Fournier added a hat trick. Both players are coming off a championship win with the Jr C Lakers and are playing their first season with Trent.
The Excalibur are back in action on Sunday when they host McGill at 1pm.
It’s exactly two weeks until the Peterborough Petes open their season at home against the Brampton Steelheads. While a few cuts are still to be made before the final roster is set, head coach Rob Wilson says he’s been impressed so far by what he’s seen from the group at training camp.
The Petes will also host the Frontenacs on Sunday in a 2pm matinee from the Asphodel Norwood Community Centre.
