Two people are facing charges following a drug-related incident at Quaker Square in downtown Peterborough.
Around 3 pm on Tuesday, officers on general patrol spotted a man and a woman using drugs with a large amount of drug paraphernalia nearby. Under the Safer Public Spaces initiative, police took both into custody.
A search after arrest turned up a prohibited knife, 4.3 grams of fentanyl, 20 grams of cocaine, six grams of hashish, one gram of methamphetamine, 0.9 grams of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a small amount of Canadian cash.
A 44-year-old Peterborough woman is charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and is being held in custody for a court appearance today.
A 55-year-old Peterborough man is charged with possession of a prohibited device. He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court October 14.
