Peggy Shaughnessy’s relentless efforts building the community and connections that people need to find their path to healing is the subject of a new documentary film.
Created by Peterborough filmmaker Kait Howell, Healing Outside The System will be premiered September 7th at Market Hall. Tickets to the 2 p.m. screening cost $29 at www.markethall.org with proceeds going to Shaughnessy’s Redpath Wellness Centre.
Howell spent weeks with Shaughnessy in a bid to chronicle to her lifetime work of community healing, the result being an 18-minute film that bears witness to, and honours, her work while issuing a call to action.
Shaughnessy speaks to what she hopes the screening audience will take away from the film.
Shaughnessy hopes the film will compel community leaders and policy makers to commit to working toward a healthier and more compassionate future all residents.
Just two days after the screening, Shaughnessy will be officially inducted into Peterborough’s Pathway of Fame – another tribute to her life work.
