With exactly two weeks until the Peterborough Petes kick off the 2025-26 campaign, the opening night roster is starting to take shape.
After five days of scrimmages, the annual Maroon and White game, and two preseason tests against Erie, one player who stood out was this year’s first overall OHL draft pick, Kaden McGregor.
The 16-year-old from Braeside, Ontario, says the Petes veterans have welcomed him with open arms, making his transition to Peterborough much smoother.
McGregor, the only first overall pick in Petes franchise history, has been putting in the work all summer to earn his spot on the team.
He said it felt good to put on the maroon and white uniform last week while getting his first taste of the OHL.
The Petes will continue their preseason on Sunday against the Kingston Frontenacs at 2pm at the Asphodel-Norwood Community Centre. Their season opener is set for September 18 when they take on the Brampton Steelheads at the PMC.
