Funeral arrangements have been set for Jim Kakouros, a fixture in Peterborough’s hospitality scene whose impact stretched far beyond the businesses he helped build.
Kakouros, who passed away August 27 at the age of 54, was a driving force behind popular local spots including Riley’s Pub and The Junction, ventures he operated with his brother and cousins. Known for his larger-than-life personality and his commitment to making customers feel at home, he helped shape Peterborough’s bar and restaurant culture for over two decades.
Friends, former staff, and community members will have an opportunity to pay their respects at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Road, on Wednesday, September 3 from 5 to 8 pm.
A second visitation will be held Thursday, September 4 from 9 to 10:30 am at Evangelismos Tis Theotokou Saints Nectarios and Gerasimos Greek Orthodox Church in Oshawa, followed by the funeral service at 11 am.
In keeping with his long support of local causes, the family is asking that donations be directed to the PRHC Foundation – Cancer Care Clinic in his memory.
