With more than 560 school buses rolling out this week, Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO) is reminding motorists to stay alert and follow the rules.
STSCO CAO Roy Wierenga says the message is simple, but often ignored.
Despite clear signals like flashing lights and stop arms, violations remain a daily problem. Wierenga says it happens far too often.
He says distracted driving and impatience are likely factors. The result, however, puts children at serious risk.
STSCO says motorists should be ready to stop whenever they see a bus slowing down, and extra caution is also needed in school zones as students return to class.
