What were you up to in the year 2000? Did you take part in Greater Napanee’s Millennium Project? Well, the time capsule is now open!
The Lennox and Addington County Museum is opening a special display to mark 25 years since the Project captured community life at the turn of the century.
myFM spoke with Cathy Fallis, who says thousands of photos were taken in 1999 and 2000 by volunteers with the Napanee Kinnette Club and others,
The photo’s show families, businesses, schools, sports teams and even employees inside the former Gibbard furniture factory.
The albums will be available for public viewing on Tuesday, September 16th, starting at 4:30 p.m. Special remarks from the mayor and project organizers are planned for 6:30 p.m.
The Millennium Project also created lasting landmarks such as the Grand Pavilion, Springside Park light standards, the floating fountain and the Human Sundial.
Organizers hope the display will inspire younger generations and introduce newcomers to Napanee’s community legacy.
