United Way Northumberland is rolling out a new fundraising drive this fall that aims to put the power of the local auto industry behind community programs.
The “Cars for Community” campaign will run from September 1 to November 30, bringing together car dealerships and auto service businesses across the county to support housing, food access, and mental health initiatives.
Executive Director Alicia Vandine says the campaign comes at a critical time, as many families face rising living costs and housing pressures. “Every partnership strengthens our community,” Vandine said. “The support from our auto sector helps families struggling with food insecurity, ensures critical mental health programs are there when people need them, and creates pathways of support in the face of the affordable housing crisis.”
As part of the campaign, Cobourg Honda, Cobourg Kia, Cobourg Mazda, and Campbellford Chrysler will each donate $20 from every new and used vehicle sold. Meanwhile, Tinney’s Auto Spa, Brighton Auto and Industrial Supplies, East End Auto, and East End Auto Repair are pledging ongoing support to United Way’s programs.
Funds raised will go toward stabilizing services across Northumberland County, including housing supports, food security programs, and mental wellness initiatives.
United Way Northumberland, part of the national United Way Centraide Canada network, has been working to improve lives through local partnerships for more than a century.
