The Labour Day holiday will affect some city services and facility operations.
While there’s no change to Monday’s normal curbside collection of garbage, organic, recycling and yard waste, the city-county landfill and the Household Hazardous Waste Depot will be closed Monday (September 1st).
Peterborough Transit will operate on a Sunday/holiday service schedule on Canada Day, returning to its regular schedule September 2nd. Visit www.peterborough.ca/transit for detailed schedules.
Peterborough City Hall, the Peterborough Public Library and the Art Gallery of Peterborough will be closed on Labour Day, but the Sport and Wellness Centre will open on the holiday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Also open on Labour Day, from noon to 5 p.m., is the Peterborough Museum and Archives, and Riverview Park and Zoo from 8:30 am until dusk.
The social services office on Charlotte Street will be closed on Labour Day and all city-operated child care centres will also be closed on the holiday.
As always, parking is free at city-operated parking garages, surface lots and on-street metered spaces on the holiday.
Please note that our News Department is off on Labour Day. Coverage will, however, be provided in the event of breaking news that impacts the community. We will be return to regular news coverage and programming on September 2nd.
