Premier Doug Ford says the province’s ban on American alcohol will remain until U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods are lifted or a new trade deal is reached.
Ford ordered U.S. liquor pulled from LCBO shelves in March in retaliation for tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
The move has boosted Canadian alcohol sales, which jumped 19 per cent in the months following the ban.
Ford says he is standing firm on dollar-for-dollar retaliation, though his approach differs from Ottawa’s softer stance in trade negotiations.
