Here is your local sports report for Thursday, August 28.
Minor hockey will be starting soon at local rinks. We spoke with Petes Head Trainer and Equipment Manager Brian Miller to find out what you should be doing to get your kid’s gear ready for the upcoming season.
Miller has been busy this week as the Petes kicked off their training camp on Monday, with scrimmages happening today, the annual Maroon and White game tomorrow afternoon and two exhibition games this weekend.
The Lakefield Chiefs handed out their awards for standout performances last season.
The regular season MVP was Clayton Shaughnessy, while Ayden Bulmer took home the playoff honour.
Other awards included Charlie Blewett as Top Scorer and Will Corcoran as Best Defenceman.
The Chiefs opened their preseason last week with a 10-0 win over Little Britain and will return to the ice next Wednesday for an exhibition game in Clarington.
