Patrol efforts along Hwy. 401 in Brighton have led to impaired driving charges.
Last Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, at about 2:30 a.m., Northumberland OPP said officers were on patrol on Hwy. 401 eastbound in the Municipality of Brighton and stopped a passenger vehicle.
After speaking with the driver, an impaired driving investigation was initiated, resulting in the motorist being taken into custody and transported to a nearby detachment for further testing, reported OPP.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 29-year-old from the Township of Cramahe was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus.)
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused also had their licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
