The Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) has received a $25,000 donation from Kevan and Roberta Herod of Herod Financial Services to support its Journeying Together program.
Journeying Together offers one-on-one support to family members and caregivers of individuals living with mental illness. The program provides education, advocacy, and emotional guidance to help families navigate the mental health system, reduce isolation, and build resilience. Services are available both in-person and virtually, ensuring accessibility across the region.
This latest contribution continues the Herod family’s long-standing commitment to caregiver mental health. Over the past decade, they have donated nearly $200,000 to CMHA HKPR, making them among the organization’s most impactful private supporters.
In a statement, Kevan and Roberta Herod said mental health challenges affect every family, including their own, and stressed the importance of programs like Journeying Together. “We’ve seen firsthand how hard it can be for loved ones to navigate the system and find support. Journeying Together makes a real difference for families, and we’re honoured to ensure this lifeline is available to others,” they shared.
CMHA HKPR Chief Executive Officer Ellen Watkins expressed gratitude, calling the donation “more than financial support,” but also an affirmation of shared commitment to families.
One service recipient described the program as “a life saver” that provided crucial guidance during a loved one’s illness.
CMHA HKPR encourages others to join the Herods in supporting mental health initiatives. More information is available at cmhahkpr.ca/donate.
