Nutritionist Lianne Phillipson says routines are key for kids as they head back to school and that includes in school lunches.
She says as you start to get organized, take notes.
Phillipson says if someone says they like something simple like toast for example, suggestions can be made to make it more nutritious. Adding protein is a good place to start.
She says some kids feel empowered by being included.
Another suggestion she has is to reduce sugar in a way many may not think of.
Most juices are loaded with sugar, and Phillipson says many may not know that, or bother to check labels.
She says getting the whole family involved can open a discussion and inspire the family to get creative and healthy with their lunches.
