Ontario’s police watchdog says no charges will be laid against an OPP officer after a fatal crash in Madoc.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) ruled there are no reasonable grounds to believe the officer committed a criminal offence. The case involved the death of a 57-year-old man riding a motorcycle at Highway 7 and St. Lawrence Street West on April 27, 2025.
The motorcyclist was struck by a Porsche that was fleeing police. The Porsche driver was being pursued by an OPP officer for dangerous driving.
The SIU investigation concluded the officer’s actions did not meet the threshold for criminal responsibility.
