Greater Napanee is getting a major boost to its ability to respond in a crisis thanks to funding from the Ontario government.
Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response, MPP Jill Dunlop, visited Greater Napanee Friday to make the announcement.
These funds also support an emergency evacuation trailer and a generator. The municipality will also invest in educational materials, such as banners and flyers, to raise awareness about being prepared.
The money comes through the province’s Community Emergency Preparedness Grant, which supports municipalities, First Nations and community organizations in strengthening their emergency response.
Hastings–Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee praised the importance of local and provincial partnerships when emergencies strike.
Erin Tyers, Greater Napanee Community Emergency Management Coordinator, says the upgrades will cut response times and improve safety for vulnerable residents during crises.
