Ontario Provincial Police in Prince Edward County have charged two drivers with impaired driving in separate incidents.
The first occurred on Saturday, August 16, around 8 p.m., when officers were running a RIDE program near Sandbanks Provincial Park. A vehicle entered the checkpoint and police suspected the driver had been drinking. After roadside testing, 32-year-old Juran Thangavelauthapillai of Bowmanville was taken to the detachment for further tests. He is charged with impaired driving, driving over the legal alcohol limit, and liquor-related offences. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven.
The second case happened Tuesday, August 19, at 6:45 p.m., when officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in Wellington. Police say the driver, 41-year-old Kyler Ringlet of Picton, was impaired. He faces charges including impaired driving and multiple document-related offences.
Both accused are scheduled to appear in Picton court on September 3.
