If you’re out in Peterborough or the county this Saturday, you’ll likely spot plenty of lemonade stands popping up on neighbourhood corners.
The Kiwanis Club of Scott’s Plains is hosting the first-ever Lemonade Stand Day, an event that invites kids to sell drinks while raising funds for Riverview Park and Zoo.
With this year marking the club’s 50th anniversary, members wanted to celebrate by doing something special for the community. Kiwanis member Greg McLeod explains.
McLeod says choosing the zoo as the beneficiary made perfect sense, given its importance to families across the region.
And while the event supports the zoo, McLeod says Lemonade Stand Day is really about the kids themselves.
