A call from a concerned citizen in Brighton has led police to allegedly seize suspected meth, cocaine and fentanyl.
At about 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, Northumberland OPP said officers followed up on a report from a concerned member of the public involving two individuals observed slumped over inside a vehicle at a commercial property in the Elizabeth Street area.
After arriving on scene, police said officers conducted inquiries and determined one individual was wanted by a neighbouring police service, resulting in that individual being taken into custody.
Police also said a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the alleged seizure of about 55 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 65 grams of suspected cocaine, and 30 grams of suspected fentanyl.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 51-year-old Port Perry resident was charged with possession of a schedule I substance – other drugs. A 44-year-old Municipality of Brighton resident was also charged with possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs, obstructing a peace officer, failure to comply with an undertaking, and personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice, reported OPP.
None of these charges have been proven in court. Both of the accused will appear in Cobourg court in October.
