It was a busy weekend for the Belleville Police Service with more than 280 calls for service, and charges laid related to alleged drug-trafficking, arson, impaired driving with a child in the car, an assault on a paramedic, and more.
Here’s the latest from Belleville police:
PROJECT RENEWAL DRUG SEIZURE:
On Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025, following a drug-trafficking investigation, members of the project renewal team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant in the east end with help from the canine and emergency response units.
Investigators allegedly seized a quantity of cocaine, oxycodone pills, Canadian currency and packaging material.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 26-year-old Pickering resident is facing charges around possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000.
PARAMEDIC ALLEGEDLY THREATENED, PUNCHED, SPAT AT
On Sunday, at about 2:23 p.m., police said they responded to Belleville General Hospital after a report that a woman allegedly assaulted a paramedic.
After arriving on scene and talking with EMS, it was reported that the woman had allegedly threatened, punched and spat on a paramedic, said police.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 31-year-old Belleville woman was charged with two counts of assault, uttering threats, intimidation of a health-care worker, and disobeying a court order.
IMPARED DRIVING, CHILD ABANDONMENT CHARGES LAID
Also on Sunday, at about 6:15 p.m., police said they received a report from OPP that a man was allegedly observed driving with a child while having open alcohol inside the vehicle.
Officers located the suspect vehicle in the city’s west end and initiated a traffic stop, and alleged empty alcohol cans were in the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 32-year-old Belleville man was charged with operation while impaired, failure to comply with a release order and abandoning a child.
GRASS FIRE CALL LEADS TO ARSON CHARGE
On Friday, Aug. 15, just before 9 p.m., police said they responded to a call in the west end to help firefighters on scene for a grass fire.
It was reported that a woman had allegedly started the fire with a lighter. As a result of the investigation, police said a 27-year-old Belleville woman was subsequently located, arrested and charged with arson, two counts of failure to comply with a probation order, and failure to comply with an undertaking.
WARRANT ARREST LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES
On Friday, at about 6:40 p.m., while on general patrol in the east end, officers said they observed a man known to be wanted on outstanding warrants.
Following an arrest on the strength of the warrants, police allegedly seized a quantity of cocaine and Percocet pills.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Deseronto man was additionally charged with two counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
TRESPASSING, HARASSMENT CHARGES LAID
On Friday night – just after 11 o’clock – police said they responded to a west-end residence following a report about an unwanted person.
After arriving on scene, officers spoke with a woman who reported that a man was currently outside her residence in breach of his no contact order, said police.
Officers said they located the accused on the lawn behind her residence.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 42-year-old Shannonville man was charged with trespassing at night and criminal harassment.
None of the charges in the above unrelated incidents have been proven in court.
