Two people have been arrested following a five-month investigation by the Peterborough Police Service Human Trafficking Unit.
Investigators say the female victim was befriended by a woman, then forced into sex work, assaulted, and held for a period of time in another city before managing to escape.
On Monday, August 11, officers on general patrol arrested a 26-year-old Peterborough woman who was wanted on warrants for:

Two counts of failing to comply with a probation order
Police say the accused is currently bound by two probation orders requiring her to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. She was taken into custody and appeared in court on August 12.
On Thursday, August 14, detectives arrested a 33-year-old Bowmanville man on an outstanding warrant. He is charged with:

Police say the man is bound by a prohibition order preventing him from possessing any firearm. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, August 15.
As part of the investigation, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Durham Region, with assistance from the Durham Region Police Tactical Unit.
