If you’re going to stage Norm Foster’s Opening Night, what better time to do so than opening night?
The Peterborough Theatre Guild will open its six-play 2025-26 season September 19th, staging the famed Canadian playwright’s comedy until October 4th at the Guild Hall on Rogers Street.
Billed as “a laugh out loud exploration of theatre, relationships and second chances,” the story follows a middle-aged couple out for an evening at the theatre. She’s looking for a romantic night out but he rather be at home watching sports on TV. The result is comedic chaos.
Director Margaret Monis says working with a Foster script is a treat, for her and the cast.
The play’s eight cast members, says Monis, “fit together beautifully.”
A veteran guild director, Monis admits to being drawn to comedies as opposed to dramas.
