YMCA Northumberland has announced the return of its 17th annual Strong Kids Duathlon on Thursday, Aug. 21 at the Centennial Pool and Victoria Park in Cobourg.
This family-friendly event invites children ages three to 15 to participate in a swim-run challenge with races starting at 5:45 p.m.
The Y’s Kathryn Harrison tells us more.
The duathlon supports the YMCA’s Mothers of Newborns program, which provides free wellness resources and support to new mothers and their babies during the critical first year. Since its inception, the program has helped more than 2,000 families in Northumberland County.
Harrison tells us some of the kids have a strong connection to the Mothers of Newborns program.
Participants will swim in Centennial Pool and run through Victoria Park, with six age categories ensuring a fair and fun experience for all. Each kids receives a medal to celebrate their achievement.
Registration is $17 per child, with optional commemorative towels available for an additional fee. No YMCA membership is required to participate. The event is open to all children aged 3 to 15.
