Cobourg police are calling on the public for help with a shoplifting/distraction theft investigation.
In a release issued Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, the Cobourg Police Service issued a call for the public’s help identifying three individuals allegedly involved in the theft in town back in July.
Police said on July 29, 2025, at about 6:45 p.m., three men were at a business in the Spring Street and King Street area, and one man distracted a staffer while the other two took and concealed merchandise in their sweaters. The accused left the area in a dark-coloured sedan, reported police.
After obtaining CCTV footage from the business, police also released images Thursday.
“It is believed that the suspects may be involved in distraction thefts in other communities,” added police.
Anyone who can help with the ongoing investigation is urged to reach out to police at 905-372-6821 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers online or by calling 1-888-222-8477.
Tips through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
