Effective Wednesday, August 13, Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) will raise visitor parking rates for the first time in 12 years. Hospital officials say the increase aligns with provincial direction from the Ministry of Health and helps offset rising operational costs, supporting the financial sustainability of NHH.
NHH worked with its Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) and Auxiliary volunteers to set flexible rates that remain comparable to other hospitals in the local area. Multi-day passes will continue to be available at reduced rates for those requiring extended parking.
Visitors can pay at ticket kiosks located inside the Emergency Department waiting area and at the Main Entrance by the Inquiry Desk. Multi-day passes may be purchased at the Finance Payment Desk in the Main Registration Area, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Susan Walsh, NHH President and CEO, says parking revenue is essential to support patient care, noting that proceeds are reinvested directly into hospital services. She added that decisions regarding parking are always difficult but necessary for ongoing sustainability.
The hospital will reassess parking rates on a bi-annual basis based on PFAC guidance and adjust as needed.
