There are full and partial burn bans in place across Lennox and Addington County and beyond due to dry weather and wildfire risk.
Earlier this week, on Wednesday, Greater Napanee issued a partial burn ban. Under the partial ban, small campfires are still allowed. Fires must be no larger than 60 centimetres wide by 60 centimetres high and must be used only for cooking, warmth, or recreational purposes. Open-air burning is only permitted from two hours before sunset until two hours after sunrise.
On Thursday, Loyalist Township also issued a partial burn ban. Brush fires, farm fires, and permitted open-air fires are not allowed. Campfires and cooking fires are still okay if they follow local fire rules.
And as of Friday morning, both Stone Mills Township and Addington Highlands Township have issued full burn bans. This means that all open-air burning, including campfires and outdoor fireplaces are prohibited.
To our east, South Frontenac has issued a full burn ban. And to the west, Tyendinaga Township has also issued a full burn ban.
