The Peterborough Lakers lost their third game in a row to Brooklin last night, falling 8-7 in overtime. Peterborough now trails the semifinal series 3-2, with Game 6 set for Wednesday night in Whitby.
The Jr C Lakers will have a chance to go up 2-0 in the Meredith Cup final when they travel to Burlington tonight to take on the Warriors. The best-of-five series will shift back to Peterborough on Sunday for a 2 pm matinee at Healthy Planet Arena.
Staying with lacrosse, the OJLL announced yesterday that the Jr A Lakers have been honoured with the Jim Bishop Memorial Award for Coaching Staff of the Year. The team is led by Head Coach Robert Hope, along with assistants Jeff Ralph, Taylor Evans, Dustin Dunn, and Curtis Conley. It’s the first time the team has won the award since 2011, when Hope was a player on the team.
It’s a full day of rugby at Nicholls Oval tomorrow, with the Pagans set to host five games at the park, beginning at 10:30 am with their U16 team taking on the Crusaders Rugby Club Archers.
