A Peterborough woman faces drug trafficking charges following a joint investigation by multiple police agencies that led to a large drug seizure near Sault Ste. Marie.
Stephanie Giles, 29, was charged August 1 after OPP conducted a traffic stop on Garden River First Nation and uncovered a significant quantity of suspected drugs in her vehicle. Sault Ste. Marie Police took custody of Giles and helped execute a search warrant on the vehicle.
Police seized approximately 500 grams of suspected cocaine, nearly 281 grams of suspected fentanyl, cutting agents, around $730 in cash, and two cellphones. Giles’s vehicle was also seized. The total estimated street value of the drugs is about $92,108.
The investigation began in May 2025, focusing on drug trafficking activity in Peterborough and surrounding areas. It involved cooperation between
detectives with the Crime Suppression Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit, with assistance from the Canine Unit, Emergency Services Unit, the Sault Ste. Marie detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and the Garden River detachment of the Anishinabek Police Service (APS). As the investigation progressed, detectives with Sault Police were also involved.
Giles is charged with possession of fentanyl and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
