The Municipality of Brighton says Veteran’s Way and a portion of Kingsley Avenue will be shut down to accommodate the “Barns2Beaches Music Tour” at Memorial Park today (Friday, Aug. 8.)
Officials say Veteran’s Way – between Main Street and Sanford Street – will be temporarily closed to traffic from 7:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8 until 12 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9.
Meanwhile, Kingsley Avenue – between Main Street and the Beer Store – will be closed to traffic from about 4:30 p.m. Friday until midnight.
As previously reported, the Canadian Musicians Co-operative’s “Emerging Artist Showcase” is bringing together 16 rising stars to the outdoor stage at Memorial Park starting at 7 p.m. Performances will continue until about 11 p.m.
The showcase will feature 100 per cent Canadian music, including mashups of classics and original pieces. The concert is free, with the event officially opening at 5 p.m. so folks can set up their seats/blankets and get a bite to eat in the park.
Before the Barns2Beaches artists hit the stage, opening act Carl Cotton is performing and then Jules McCools at 6 p.m.
Harry’s Hots and Just Like Granny’s will be set up from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. dishing up delicious eats.
