The newly restored Fairfield Gutzeit House in Bath has reopened to the public. Ground was broken in the fall of 2023, marking the beginning of this nearly 2-year restoration project.
myFM spoke with Loyalist Township Mayor Jim Hegadorm, who shared with us his reaction to seeing the finished product.
Built in 1796, the Georgian-style home is now a museum and will be open for tours Thursdays to Sundays until August 24.
Restoration work took place on the exterior and interior of the house, with a big focus on the structural integrity as well.
Hegadorn says this is a great addition to the number of historical sites they have in Loyalist township, from the Babcock Mill in Odessa to the Bath Museum, and so many more,
To celebrate the reopening, on Thursday, August 8, a puppet show will take place at 2 p.m., perfect for young families. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
