Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region is offering affordable homeownership opportunities through newly available 1–3 bedroom condominiums in Peterborough’s East City.
The modern, energy-efficient condos feature universal design and are situated close to schools, transit, parks and shopping. The units are being offered to eligible local households earning under $95,000 annually through Habitat’s Affordable Homeownership Program. Qualified buyers can purchase a home with no down payment and an income-based mortgage.
The available units are part of Habitat PKR’s Affordable Housing BuyBack Program. When a Habitat homeowner moves on, Habitat PKR repurchases the unit at fair market value. The homeowner will then receive the equity they’ve built, while making the home available for resale to another eligible family.
A recent national study found that Habitat homeowners experienced an average income increase of nearly 30 per cent compared to those who remained in rental housing. The report also estimates Habitat homeowners contribute $35 million annually to Canada’s economy.
Info sessions for interested applicants will be held in-person and virtually on August 6, August 21, September 10, and September 27.
Details and applications are available at Homeownership – Habitat for Humanity | Peterborough & Kawartha Region.
