After allegedly witnessing a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign, OPP says a Carrying Place resident is facing impaired driving charges.
Shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, an officer with Prince Edward County OPP watched as a car allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Main and Bridge streets in Picton, said OPP.
Following a traffic stop and sobriety test, the driver was transported to a nearby detachment for further testing, reported police.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 22-year-old Carrying Place resident was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and disobeying a stop sign.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused was released from custody and will appear in Picton court on Sept. 3, 2025, reported OPP.
The accused also had their licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
