The 7th annual 88.7 myFM / Napanee Cooperators All Hands On Deck Food Drive is coming up next Thursday, August 14th.
We’ll be live on location from Shoppers Drug Mart, Giant Tiger, and Jamie and Jacklyn’s No Frills from 10am and 6pm. All proceeds are being donated to the Morningstar Mission and Salvation Army Food Banks.
Heading into this years food drive, the Napanee Salvation Army says the need has never been greater. Director of Community Ministries Abby Mills says they serve about 350 people a month and give out over 100,000 pounds of food a year.
Donations often drop in the summer while demand rises, especially with kids out of school.
The food bank offers personalized appointments, plus a “free choice” area with fresh and frozen foods, hygiene items, and more.
Most-needed items include cereal, canned stew, granola bars, potatoes, carrots, and toilet paper.
This year and ever year, every can counts.
