The lack of rain and high heat have prompted the Township of South Frontenac to implement a total fire ban.
They say no open air burning of any kind, including campfires and cooking fires, are permitted. Setting off fireworks is also not allowed under the ban.
People are allowed to use cooking appliances with a mechanical shut-off, such as a barbecue or propane stove.
The total ban on open air fires came into effect on Friday before the long weekend.
The Township says the combination of the high temperatures and lack of rainfall have caused dry conditions on property and forests.
South Frontenac Fire and Rescue attended to two calls about fires in the township in the last week, both were contained with no loss of structures.
They say they will continue to monitor the situation.
