This weekend, you can journey back in time in Quinte West with sword fighting, archery and more.
Part of the City of Quinte West’s annual “Quinte West Presents” series, Medieval Madness is set to light up the Bob Wannamaker Amphitheatre in Centennial Park this Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m.
This marks the second year for the event, with promises of an afternoon filled with knights, falcons and other unforgettable medieval-inspired free entertainment for all ages, said organizers.
“This event is a chance for the Quinte West and Bay of Quinte region to come together and enjoy a truly unique festival,” said Colleen Vickers, one of the city’s special events co-ordinator. “Whether you’re an enthusiast of the medieval era or just looking for a fun afternoon out, Medieval Madness offers something for everyone.”
Attendees will get a glimpse into the sights, sounds and excitement of medieval times with a vendor village, delicious eats, games, historical moments and live demonstrations, including sword fighting, falconry, archery, and more, added city officials.
Throne photo opportunities, axe throwing and medieval dancing are also part of this year’s lineup.
What’s more, attendees are encouraged to dress up in their favourite medieval attire (although no costumes are technically required.)
“Earlier this year, the city asked the public to help choose a theme for the 2025 Quinte West Presents series, and the response was overwhelmingly in favour of Medieval Madness,” noted Nick Ogden, another special events co-ordinator with the city. “We’re excited to create events that bring the community together through fun, engaging and memorable experiences.”
Admission is free and parking is available at Centennial Park. The city will also have free shuttles from City Hall (7 Creswell Dr.) at select times.
The city has more information online.
The Quinte West Presents series is designed to offer a signature event, which transforms the amphitheatre every August for a festival-inspired experience. The series was also chosen as one of Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals and Events in 2025 by Festivals and Events Ontario.
