A 66-year-old Peterborough woman has died following a serious single-vehicle crash on Bensfort Road.
Peterborough County OPP say emergency crews were called to the scene just south of Base Line around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Responders found a vehicle in a ditch after it struck a hydro pole, causing live hydro lines to fall.
Hydro workers attended the scene to make the area safe, allowing first responders to access the vehicle. The driver, who was the lone occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road remained closed for several hours while OPP collision reconstructionists investigated and emergency crews cleared the area.
Police have not released the woman’s identity.
