It’s been a busy construction season so far for Quinte West and work is getting underway on several more projects starting in August.
In terms of projects that have wrapped, Dundas Street West sidewalk replacement crossed the finish line in July. Crack sealing was also completed in June, and micro-surfacing on the Smithfield bridge in early June, to name a few of the projects.
Meanwhile, the City of Quinte West says asphalt paving is nearing completion on Power Street and Old Wooler Road.
Work is also continuing on water, sanitary and storm main replacements in the McCann Street area and anticipated to finish up in September, note city staff.
Crews are still working on the Frankford Canal bridge construction project, which will stretch into fall. Crews are tackling concrete patching and repairs, handrail replacement and expansion of joint replacements, and the bridge remains reduced to a single lane while alternating traffic, explain staff.
Work on the Stella Crescent storm sewer replacement project has started and is slated to wrap up by the end of summer.
In the coming weeks, more road work is also planned on Foxboro-Stirling Road, Frankford Road and Wallbridge-Loyalist Road. Paving will come later this summer.
Meanwhile, the city says the design phase for the urbanization of 2nd Dug Hill Road is underway and construction on a new multi-use pathway and sidewalk extending from Hwy. 2 south (for about 1.6 km) will start this fall as part of the project.
And work on the Fairview Crescent water and sewer main replacement project is starting in August and scheduled to cross the finish line later this fall.
