Registration opens August 11 for Hike, Bike, and Bark for Hospice, one of Northumberland’s most meaningful community events, taking place Sunday, September 28 at Victoria Park in Cobourg.
Organizers are hoping to top last year’s record-breaking total of $77,000 raised in support of Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre. Funds help provide free services like grief counselling, volunteer and in-home hospice care, and end-of-life support in the 10-suite residential hospice.
Participants can register online at hikebikebarkforhospice.ca, either as individuals or as part of a team. The upgraded platform features a personal dashboard to track donations and share progress on social media. Early registrants, those who sign up between August 11 and August 31, will be automatically entered to win one of three exclusive early bird prize packs.
Event routes include 2k, 5k, and 10k options. Dogs and children under 12 can participate for free. Registration for those 13 and older is $30 and includes a t-shirt and race kit.
Trish Baird, CEO of Community Care Northumberland, says the event is a chance to come together to honour loved ones and support local hospice services.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available, and local businesses or individuals are encouraged to get involved. To learn more about supporting the event or sharing your hospice story, contact Kristin Andrews at Community Care Northumberland.
Every step, pedal, and wag helps ensure hospice care remains free and accessible for families in need.
