The All Hands on Deck Food Drive will take over the airwaves on Oldies 100.9 on Thursday, Aug. 21 with a day-long food drive aimed at restocking local food banks and helping families prepare for back-to-school.
The broadcast is presented by Workman’s OK Tire and Workman’s Engine Machine and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with teams at grocery stores across the region collecting donations.
Volunteer chair of Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank Dick Kauling says need has reached a new level.
One concern? More working families are now relying on food banks to get by.
Kauling says financial donations make a big difference.
Organizers are also asking for lunch-friendly items like granola bars and juice boxes to help kids return to school ready to learn.
Oldies 100.9 will provide live updates from locations throughout the day and is challenging local businesses to match donations or issue their own challenges.
Full details will be available soon.
