Hundreds of employees are going to be impacted as a result of the latest announcement by Lufthansa Group, which owns Lufthansa Airlines.
The group has confirmed it will close up its Peterborough call centre by next May. The centre is located at 1900 Fisher Drive.
According to its website, the Peterborough centre features Customer Service Consultants fluent in six languages and offers support for General Reservations, Miles & More, Group Sales, and Ticketing.
In a statement to the Examiner, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications Christina Semmel said ‘increasing automation, advanced self-service technologies, and improved operational performance at Lufthansa Group Arlines will ensure long-term profitability and sustainable adapting operations within its global network’.
Peterborough was the only North American location for the group, with other offices in Berlin, Brno, Cape Town, Manila and Turkey.
