The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has delivered a first-quarter payment of $712,281 to the City of Peterborough for hosting Shorelines Casino, bringing the city’s total casino-related revenue to more than $15.8 million since the site opened in 2018.
The payment, covering the period from April 1st to June 30th, is part of the Municipality Contribution Agreement, which calculates funds for host communities using a graduated formula based on gaming revenue generated at each site.
“OLG is a strong partner that provides substantial benefits to Peterborough,” said Peterborough–Kawartha MPP Dave Smith in a statement. “In addition to the jobs at Shorelines Casino Peterborough, important investments in our local community are made possible through OLG’s sharing of casino revenue.”
Since 1994, Ontario communities that host land-based casinos have collectively received nearly $2.3 billion in non-tax gaming revenue from OLG.
The Crown agency said it reinvests 100 per cent of its profits back into the province, supporting priorities like health care, education, and local infrastructure. OLG also pointed to its role in spurring economic development and job creation through its partnerships with host municipalities.
Shorelines Casino Peterborough opened its doors in October 2018 and has since become a key contributor to the city’s operating and capital budgets.
