Parkour classes for kids and teens are set to return to Conservation Park in Greater Napanee after Town Council showed strong support for Pegasus Movement Academy during the July 22 meeting.
Classes had been paused due to safety concerns, as students were seen using picnic tables, rocks, and lamp posts for training.
Cora Wright, founder of Pegasus, told council her program teaches kids over three how to fall safely and assess their surroundings. She also shared that she offers scholarships, charges low fees, and often helps clean the park.
Pegasus carries $5 million in liability insurance. Town staff recommended a new park rental category for groups like Pegasus, costing $25 per hour.
Council agreed that classes can continue once a rental agreement is signed and the Town is listed on the insurance.
Wright believes her program helps make Napanee stronger and safer for youth.
