One of Peterborough’s most spirited summer events returns Thursday night as Little Lakers Night hits the floor at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.
The event, hosted by the Peterborough Century 21 Lakers in partnership with Five Counties Children’s Centre, takes place July 24 during the Lakers’ final regular season home game. It’s the third year for the event, which celebrates inclusion, community spirit, and the joy of sport.
“Each year, Little Lakers Night has grown in impact and excitement, and it’s certainly become a highlight of the summer season for us,” says Scott Pepin, CEO of Five Counties Children’s Centre. “Besides cheering from the stands, Five Counties families will take part in the ceremonial, pre-game ball-drop and a behind-the-scenes experience with the Lakers.”
Fans are encouraged to arrive early for pre-game festivities starting at 7 p.m. Highlights include face painting by donation, freezies, a silent auction, and commemorative T-shirts in support of children’s treatment services.
Tickets are available through the Memorial Centre box office. By entering the promo code FIVECOUNTIES at checkout, $3 from each ticket sold will go directly to Five Counties programs that help local children access therapy, speech, and mobility supports.
The evening will also feature the debut of a warm-up jersey designed by Kennedy, a local Grade 4 student. Jerseys will be auctioned online after the game to raise additional funds. Last year’s event raised over $15,000.
All proceeds from Little Lakers Night will support Five Counties’ Building Abilities for Life campaign, which allows more kids and youth in the region to access life-changing treatment services that they need when they need it. This year’s Little Lakers Night is sponsored by Merrett Home Hardware, Billyard Insurance Group, Pinchin, and LP Movers.
