UPDATE: Two men from Toronto have died in separate suspected drowning incidents over the weekend at East Lake in Prince Edward County.
On Saturday, July 19, around 6 p.m., emergency crews were called to a resort on County Road 18. A 51-year-old man had reportedly drowned. First responders and civilians tried to revive him, but he was later pronounced dead in hospital.
On Sunday, July 20, just before 6 p.m., police were called to County Road 11 after four people in two canoes entered the water to swim. One reached the shore, and a bystander rescued two others by boat. A 20-year-old man could not be found.
The OPP’s Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located his body the next day. His identity is not being released.
OPP thanked local fire crews and paramedics for their help during the search and rescue efforts.

On Saturday, July 19, around 6 p.m., emergency crews were called to a resort on County Road 18 where a man had been pulled from the water. Despite efforts from firefighters, paramedics, and bystanders, the 51-year-old Toronto-area man was pronounced dead at hospital.
The next day, on Sunday, July 20, just before 6 p.m., police were called to County Road 11 after a group of people went swimming in the lake and could not re-enter their canoes. One person swam to shore. A bystander rescued two more by boat. One individual remains missing.
The OPP’s Underwater Search and Recovery Unit is searching the lake today. The missing person’s identity has not been confirmed.
